C852 is a short, sealed spur route serving the tiny but popular seaside village of Bellingham, located at the mouth of the Pipers River. The area that the road passed through was decimated by bushfires in January 2008 - the photos below are all taken prior to the fires.

Under early plans for alpha-numeric route marking in Tasmania, this route was to be an extension of C818 which lies almost directly to the south. However, by the time the first public map of the scheme was released in 1981, Bellingham Rd had been re-allocated the C852 designation. This late decision explains the out-of-sequence number.
