C824 is a 13km long, mostly unsealed east-west route linking Lilydale Main Rd (B81) with Tasman Highway (A3) east of the mountain range which borders Launceston to the east. It serves mainly local and forestry traffic. Some recent roadwork has been undertaken, including the provision of a sealed pavement for 1km east from Lilydale Main Rd, and the removal of a dangerous right-angle bend 7km east of Lilydale Main Rd.
