C727 is a minor rural route in the Tamar River valley, forming a loop along the river foreshore between the East Tamar and Batman Highways. The northern part of the route - Craigburn Rd - is an unsealed, narrow but very scenic rural route twisting its way along the river foreshore. In contrast, the southern part of the route is a sealed village and semi-rural route, serving the village of Hillwood, a popular location for Launceston commuters to live or have holiday homes.
