Introduced: 1980
Length: 6km
Eastern Terminus: Whitemore Rd (C507) & Adelphi Rd (C510), 2km south of Whitemore
Western Terminus: Cluan Rd (C505) & Adelphi Rd (C510), Cluan
Route taken: Adelphi Rd, Glenore Rd
Focal Points: (Whitemore)
Responsibility: Local Government
C510 is a rural route in the Meander valley area, west of Launceston, serving a rich agricultural district. It is sealed for its entire length and also mostly devoid of line markings. It functions as an east-west link between the village of Whitemore and the hamlet of Cluan, with a two right-angled bends as it adheres to established property boundaries.
Currently, signage along the route is awful. There are no C510 shields currently extant - the eastern terminus is marked with a white fingerboard with the legend "Adelphi Road" and the western end only by a Council road-name blade sign. The right-angle turns along the route are also not adorned with direction signs. Advice from the DIER indicates that the route still exists and has not been decommissioned, although Meander Valley Council is the responsible authority.

Top: The lone fingerboard sign at the intersection of Whitemore Rd (C507) & Adelphi Rd (C510), 2km south of Whitemore. Note that this sign shows no reference to either C507 or C510, and uses a non-standard focal point (Westbury) which is not followed up further along the route of C507. Bottom: Renewed fingerboard sign assembly at the intersection of Whitemore Rd (C507) & Adelphi Rd (C510), following representations from Peter Renshaw to Meander Valley Council. This time, whilst Council have included the C507 shield and the correct focal point (Whitemore), there is still no mention of C510. Also note the Council blade sign used to show the direction to Cluan, rather than a standard fingerboard. |

Top: Confusing fingerboard assembly at the intersection of Cluan Rd (C505) & Glenore Rd (C510) - which way to Bracknell? Bottom: Following an incident with an errant vehicle, and representations from Peter Renshaw, Meander Valley Council re-erected the sign assembly in an alternate configuration. Whilst it provides some improvement on the old arrangement, the direction to Bracknell is still rather ambiguous. |
