Description:
Route C412 is a local route in the rural southern outskirts of Launceston, connecting the historic township of Evandale with the Blessington Main Rd (C401) at White Hills.
C412 takes a rather indirect north-south path between Evandale and White Hills, with many 90 degree turns as it winds it way around small argicultural properties, however it is sealed throughout its length.
The route taken by C412 is shown on the map below.

Route History:
In its original form, C412 originally extended along White Hills Road to junction with Blessington Road (C401) at White Hills. At some point during the 1990s, Launceston City Council altered the priorities at the junction of White Hills Road and Cowley Road, directing through traffic north along Cowley Road. In typical fashion, no changes were made to signage at the time, nor was the route altered to follow Cowley Road.
As part of a review of the route code network by the Road Route Code Advisory Group (RRCAG) in 2011, the route of C412 was amended to include a branch at its northern end, along Cowley Road from White Hills Road to Blessington Road. This change provides much easier connections to/from Blessington Road towards Launceston. The existing route along White Hills Road was retained in order to provide a direct connection to/from Blessington Road towards Ben Lomond. As at October 2012, no signage has yet been erected either at the Blessington Road/Cowley Road or Cowley Road/White Hills Road junctions to reflect the changes to the route.
