Route Overview:
Parkes Way is one of Canberra's small freeway grade roads, but having at-grade intersections in the form of large-radius roundabouts east of Commonwealth Ave. West of Commonwealth Ave the road is full freeway standard, complete with a tunnel beneath the university. Parkes Way was constructed in the 1960's, around the time that Lake Burley Griffin was constructed as it skirts its northern shore.
The Glenloch Interchange marks the eastern end of Parkes Way, distributing traffic either to Belconnen via William Hovell Dr or to Tuggeranong and Woden via Tuggeranong Parkway. At its western end, Parkes Way connects to Morshead Drive which sends traffic towards Canberra Airport and Queanbyean.
