Route Overview:

Hindmarsh Drive is the major east-west arterial route in Canberra. It is an 80km/h dual carriageway for its entire length and is 6-lanes between Streeton Dr and Yamba Dr/Athllon Dr. The first section between Mugga Lane and Jerrabomberra Ave was constructed in the early 1960s and by 1971 the entire route was complete. The eastern end originally met Canberra Ave at Ipswich St but was re-aligned ot its current alignment in 1989 when the Monaro Hwy was extended from Hume to Canberra Ave.
