NATIONAL HIGHWAY 1
Signage remnants on Princes Highway (Adelaide-Tailem Bend)

National Highway 1 (and before 1974, National Route 1) was the route marker for the South Eastern Freeway which is now, of course, the Princes Highway. In 1998 the routes M1 and A1 replaced the National Highway 1 shield. Here are some remnants from that changeover that Transport SA have missed.

National Highway 1 shield remaining on a very old black sign assembly at Bridgewater Interchange. Jan 2005.
Very old ID sign showing NH1 at Mount Barker Interchange. Jan 2005.
Another very old ID sign showing NH1 at Mount Barker Interchange. Jan 2005.
Evidence of National Highway 1 passing through Callington along the Callington-Strathalbyn Road when the freeway stopped at Callington. Jan 2005.
