QUEENSLAND NATIONAL ROUTES & HIGHWAYS

This section covers Queensland's contribution to the National Route Marking Scheme, begun by the National Association of State Road Authorities in 1954 and now largely defunct - slowly being replaced by alpha-numeric route marking. Most of these National Routes have had parts of their original routes decommissioned, either in favour of an alpha-numeric route, a state route, or a metroad.

Routes that have been decommissioned entirely, i.e. no longer exist at all, are covered in the 'Decommissioned Routes' section. Routes that have had part(s) decommissioned over the years are still covered under this section.
