Route Overview:

State Route 69 was one of the first 3 NSW state routes signposted in 1973. It forms a bypass of most of the Sydney metropolitan area, connecting with the Princes Hwy at Bulli Tops, the Hume Hwy at Campbelltown, the Gt Western Hwy at Penrith and the Golden & New England Highways at Singleton.

This particular section of SR69 was replaced by the Metroad 9 designation in 1998 as part of the special route numbering system for major routes in Sydney introduced in 1992. There is only one remnant of SR69 still present, on Narellan Rd northbound approaching the Hume Highway interchange at Campbelltown. Most Metroad 9 signage was replaced with new signs having the 'A9' shield beneath a coverplate in preparation for the introduction of the alpha-numeric numbering system in the seemingly near future.

This section of SR69 had 4 duplexes, with SR61 for 100m at Berkshire Park, with SR50 for 1km at Luddenham, with TD18 for 25km between Luddenham and Campbelltown and with SR89 for 300m at Narellan.

Below you can see photos of SR69 shields along what is now Metroad 9. For more information on the route itself see the Metroad 9 page.
